Shiro-Hige's Cream Puff Factory: Totoro Cream Puffs

I'm pretty sure you have seen these cute totoro cream puffs all over instagram. Aren't they just the cutest thing ever? If you are a huge Studio Ghibli fan and especially if you love the animation movie My Neighbour Totoro, then you will love this cream puff factory!

The cream puff factory is located in a pretty hidden quiet neighbourhood in Tokyo in the Setagaya-ku district but you will see signs along the way to direct you to the cream puff factory so it is not hard to find at all. 

This little cozy cute spot with the wooden chair and logs at the front of the shop and cafe is perfect to take a selfie with the sign of the shop!

Crazy Crepes in Toronto

I read about this new Japanese crepes place opening on Yonge and College and decided to try it out with a friend. It is popular Japanese crepes chain originated from Japan but I've actually never seen or heard of them before when visiting Japan. 

You can eat in or grab and go and they even have the fake food sample of all the different variety of flavours they have displayed in the window outside of the shop just like they do in Japan.

Review: Amausaan Uji Matcha

When I was bored at work one day, I was on blogto looking at new cafes and restaurants to try (literally my favourite hobby to do at work, lol) and came across this all matcha Japanese sweet dessert cafe. 

Amausaan Uji Matcha is a Japanese dessert chain specialized in sweets snacks and drinks made from premium matcha green tea. 

It is located in the heart of Chinatown in Toronto and is also the first location in North America and the largest cafe of the brand worldwide.

They had this seasonal sweet potato drinks and desserts and I decided to try the sweet potato latte (cold) and it was pretty good.

Review: Fuwa Fuwa Japanese Pancakes

Finally got to try the famous Fuwa Fuwa Japanese Pancakes that I have been seeing all over blogs and instagram. I was talking to a coworker at work about it and he told me that "fuwa fuwa" is actually an imitation sound of something being fluffy and soft. Like the movement of it bouncing when you shake the plate and the pancakes wiggle and create the sound like fuwa~ fuwa~ How cute! ( •⌄• ू )✧

They have this share a little bit of happiness gimmick if you post anything fuwa fuwa related with their hashtag #fuwafuwapancakes on social medial and you can get a scoop of ice cream for free when you show it to the cashier.

Their drinks and pancakes menu. They sell both hot and cold drinks and I actually forgot to take a picture of their hot drinks menu, lol. The cold drinks actually look very appealing but it was really cold out so I decided to order a hot drink instead. Maybe I will go back in the summer time to try their cold drinks. 

I ordered a matcha latte to keep me warm from the cold! 

And for the pancakes, I got the signature pancake with strawberries, blue berries and bananas. 

And my friend got the creme brulee with ice cream, raspberries, blue berries and bananas and we shared it where we each had one of each type of pancakes. 

My overall thoughts: To be honest, I was quite disappointed with my pancakes as they did not even wiggle or move at all when I shook the plate. It also was not as soft and fluffy as I expected it to be. It also tasted rather plain and I thought the creme brulee was much better. I talked to another coworker at work who had the pancakes at the same place but on a different time from when I went and she said her pancakes were much softer. So I think maybe the batter that day wasn't in the greatest quality on the day when I went so it did not come out looking as fluffy and soft. Quite a disappointment. I would like to go back again to try another time in the summer as it is quite expensive for dessert. Definitely wouldn't want to eat there often. On the plus side, they do offer a customer rewards where if you sign up with your phone number, they would send you discounts for getting half price drinks and other perks! I haven't been back since the first time to get anything though.

Review: Taiyaki NYC in Toronto

Another food review. Also saw this on blogto when I was bored at work, lol. I have been seeing these taiyaki ice cream on instagram everywhere and always wanted to try them. Finally there's one opened on Dundas and Bay so I went to try it out.

You can buy the signature taikyaki or build your own ice cream with different toppings! You can also get the ice cream on a taiyaki cone, ice cream cup or on a waffle cone. I'd recommend eating the ice cream really fast if you get it on the taiyaki cone cuz it melts pretty fast. 

They also serve tea beverages too and if you order any matcha drink, there's a deal for buy one get one free during happy hour Mon-Fri from 1pm-4pm. 

There's even a backdrop background with a pretty pink rose flowers wall for you to take the perfect picture to post on instagram. We asked the cashier which is the most popular signature taiyaki to get and the person said the unicorn is good for pictures but the best tasting one is the matcha. He's right about that. The unicorn taiyaki surely looks good in photo but did not taste as good. I'd like to go back to try a different flavour again when the weather gets warmer as it's too cold to eat too much ice cream now, lol.
